Hi Malcolm:

Three or four of us Navy collectors did a year long study some time ago regarding the differences between fake and authentic Navy's. I have pictures of both and we have noted the differences. The devil is always in the details.

If you have a digital camera, you can send me pictures and I would be happy to give you an opinion.

Lastly, I would not take anyone's word at a gun show that a Navy is authentic. You are always better off talking to a Navy collector because they can help you fair out the good from the bad and shed some light on what might have been done to the gun.

We are only expert on the model 1914. The group of us who worked on the project vowed not to release or publish our research. People making the fakes don't need to be any better at it than they already are.

Navy's are great! I have two authentic ones in the collection along with a beautiful 6" Swiss that is a real eye catcher.

You can reach me at my Yahoo address slk4fun@yahoo.com.

Good luck to you.
