Interesting WWI Ring
I got this ebay recently. With the valuable assistance of Ellie and Jerry"smile when you say that"Burney.
Gerben V, translated the inscription for me The inscription reads: "To prove my loyalty to my old fatherland, I gave it during difficult times gold in exchance for this iron." He said it's from the Gold for Iron drive to raise money for WWI. Someone probably exchanged their wedding band for it. Who ever he was. He must have been a pretty good sized guy. I wear a size 14 ring. The ring is on my thumb, in the photo. It has a date of NOV.24,1914, inside. Thought the WWI buffs would enjoy seeing it. Ron
