Folks at Guns America seem to have a pretty good idea to help with some fraudulent sellers...

I think this idea might be useful for any auction buys on e-Bay, Auction Arms, Gun Broker, etc. as well...

" GA ALERT: YOU NOW MUST REQUIRE that a seller provide you a phone number that can be looked up with reverse number lookup. This can be his/her home or the FFL that the gun will be shipped from if they are doing that, or some other verifyable source. Use this:

NO EXCEPTIONS! NO EXCEPTIONS! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Fraudulent sellers use pre-paid cell phones.
It is still a rare problem and we need your diligence to make it a NO-problem. The internet has changed boys and girls.

NOTE: Reverse lookup can be behind. The seller *should* be able to give you a land line that can be checked. If not please let us know. "
