Hello,
Received a box of personal effects today in the mail, won it on-line. Very interesting, there is all kinds personal documentation. Although if the gentleman passed away, it must have been by an accident, as his "captured enemy equipment certificate" is dated 13 Jan 1946, although if you have been around the military, accidents do happen. The certificate is for "one German Luger Ser. # 2838J" and an actual certificate or retention and customs declaration, it has the same thing, but Luger, looks like Logger (I have two copies of each). Now, J wasn't used very often, so it is possible it is for another suffix? It belonged to a Paul Luster if anybody has ever heard of him, please contact me. His Pay Record states: enl May 6 1943 Kentucky AWJ 449 air SQ GP APO 557 and under it in pencil is 835 Eng Sq Inside it is written: Changes affecting Pay status: left US 3 Nov 43 UK 10 Nov 43 Awarded Combat Inf Badge per GO #15, 1 Sept 44 left UK 7 July 44 arrvd 9 July 44 (France) Arvd UK from France 22 Dec 44 Pretty interesting, Ed
