I always thought that the chunk broken out beneath the safty lever was a disassembly problem. Apparently not so. I went and fired 4 mags through my Mauser 42 just to celebrate a marvelous day, and lost the blasted chunk out of my upper rear left grip, Double Rats! I was in rough terrain and couldn't find the missing piece. Really no big deal as these are $19 repro. walnut grips, and they did survive 200-250 shots(don't worry the guns a Mauser Frankenstien). Poor Stevie can't decide whether to take Thor's advice and get some Nill's grips, or another set of these cheapo's(these were pretty grips).
Oh well, no big moral to the story, I just had no idea the grips could let loose from simply shooting the gun. Maybe some of the broken left original grips were honest failure, and not removal abuse. Still and Outstanding day,... Stevie |
