Question Jammed up Interarms PO-8 Mauser Luger

Hi Folks:
I went to the range today for the first firing of an Interarms Mauser PO-8 Luger. After inserting the magazine and attempting to chamber the first round, the toggle did not close properly, and it did not chamber the first round. Then the toggle would only pull about half way back open, and I could see that the first round was not chambered. But the magazine was jammed and would not drop out when I attempted to release it.
So I've got a jammed up Luger and one very frustrated owner. Can anyone tell me a SAFE WAY to unjam the pistol so I can get the magazine and bullets out of the gun so it can be shipped to a competent gunsmith who knows of this problem.
And any recommendations for competent Mauser Luger gunsmith would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

Sincerely, "Herr" Bert Shoemaker
