THANKS TO ALL WHO CHIMED IN ON THIS ONE!!
Total success!! As some of you know, I have a nickel-plated 42 P-08. This pistol was a total Jam-a-matic, not feeding ANYTHING. A total disaster!! I suspected the original mainspring was dubious, and of course the magazine springs were possible culprits, too. Again, thanks for all your input. I got all new springs from Wolff. I replaced the mainspring with a Wolff 36-pound spring {2 lbs lighter than standard}, then replaced the zig-zag magazine spring in the fxo mag, as well as the spiral springs in the Mec-Gar mags. The fxo mag need a bit of straightening out as well. Today I took the rascal out by the round pen, warned the horses, and tested it, and it worked great!!! Motivation. 'Jumped in the Polaris Ranger, and drove up to the range {on my ranch}, and commenced firing. Consider the problems SOLVED!! I shot a couple hundred rounds. They poured thru Herr Luger's contraption like corn thru a goose. Attached is a pic with a couple targets. Both were fired two-handed at 10 meters. I'm no great shakes with a hand gun, but the one group constituted a mixed bag of ammo; S&B 115 RNFMJ's, Winchester 115 RNFMJ's, and American Eagle 147 FPFMJ's. Heck, the 147's won't hardly fit in the fxo magazine, but shot great out of the Mec-Gars. This pistol will be THE grouse gun this Fall. I'll have to make a nice tooled shoulder rig for it. I reckon it's light enough to justify it's existence as a second , maybe even on a long pull up the mountain after elk!!! Anyway, thanks to all for your assistance. This one truly went from a sow's ear to a silk purse!! Ausgezeichnete pistole!! ![]() ![]()
