Post Is this luger rare?

I was at my local shop. The one I got my "G" date from. He has 3 Lugers for sale now. Two dwm's, one 1916 and one 1917. The 1917 has a unit mark on the grip strap.
But my main thing is he has a 1941, but not marked byf! Its marked 42, has matching #s and the last two of the serial is 40, kinda neat because on the top it reads 40,41 and 42..lol.
I am still not too knowledgeable on these. He told me they only made around 6,000 of the 41/42's. Is this correct? If so it is more collectable than my "g" date? It also has alot of blue worn off, all strawing is there and it appears to be original condition. No tampering I could see, but what do I know. And an fxo magazine with a black bottom.
mow.
