Follow-up. I followed everyone's suggestions. I viewed several field strip videos on YouTube and found that the coupling link was not engaging the recoil lever. Someone had probably removed the receiver and didn't re-install it properly. Easy fix. Field stripping the Luger also made it possible to verify that all numbers were matching. Once again, thank you all for your input. Great group here on the forum.
