Another "Hold Open" question.

I know there are many, many questions, out there, regarding the hold open device on the P08. I have not found an issue that is similar to mine though. I have a 1917 DWM with a WWII numbered magazine. The magazine isn't the best in the world and it is a bit loose in the fully seated position. Meaning that once the magazine clicks in position there is still a small amount of up and down movement. The toggle will lock open when the magazine is empty, but when I disengage the magazine, to remove it while in the locked back position, the toggle drops down. Would you consider this to be the function of the reloading button not depressing the hold open firmly enough, or would you consider a different cause? The hold open toggle looks fine and the slot in the breechblock appears fine. All of the parts move freely. It isn't that I want to shoot the P-08, (it is a family heirloom) I am just anal about having it work as it is supposed to.

Does anyone have an idea on where to look or heard of a problem such as this?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
