Thanks JTD.... I really appreciate the caution from experienced traders, since I am just a newbie to military weapons in general.
Desperado really hit the nail on the head. When I read my own words, I saw red flags everywhere in that post. Actually, I have been working on my friend to get it for about 20 years now and he finally relented. But he had strong sentimental attachment to it because he and his father in law were good friends. Figured out what the odd looking tool is... I'm told it is an M1 Garand tool. Hope someone can educate me on holster dates? Did the date on the original holster always match the date on the gun? Or could this be the original holster that was a leftover from the prior year (1939) when it was manufactured (1940)? Don't know how to contact individuals on the Forum directly or if that is possible. Wanted to let Ed Tinker know I am also in Pennsylvania and I have some other WWII stuff laying around that I may consider selling if it has any value. |
