As already noted this is an 1866 Snider conversion of the 1853 Enfield and the photos show that it is missing some parts like the firing pin bits and the extractor spring. I seriously doubt that there is any American Civil War connection. These were used by Britain until the Martini-Henry was adopted in 1871 and many saw service in the colonies until much later. I have a similar Snider carbine that was converted into a smoothbore for use by the Egyptian police. It is hanging on the wall and I don't wish to take it down, but as I recall it has a date stamped in Arabic of the early 20th century.
