1906 Navy #911a- the Phoenix rises- a new iteration

The saga of frame I.T.D. 1460 continues.

Use of the upper from the original thread below left it "topless".

1906 Navy barrels are of the long shank pattern and normally used with the early "long" receiver to match up with the long frame. These being tough to find, I elected to use a short receiver and a breeching washer to allow use of the barrel.

A Kreighoff commercial proofed(second quality star) receiver became available so I bought it. Finish was nice and it looked good with the dark re-finished original barrel. Only problem was the receiver was twisted and bent-not enough to see- but enough to keep it from sliding onto the frame! Likely done by some ham fisted amateur removing the barrel.

A problem- after consulting with our repair-man par excellance, Gerald Tomek, GT for short; he agreed to try to straighten it out.

Some weeks later it was done. I reassembled the pistol last night and test fired it this am with complete success!

Just an aside, one 32 rnd. set was fired from a repro drum, also with no problem; and will be a subject of another post in the future.
