Toggle did bump a little bit at closing time. Not much. But that must due to coil type spring was so strong. Vlim mentioned toggle lock was cancelled because it's useless... probably true on coil spring gun. On leaf spring gun should be different story.

Even if the lock was just speculation, actually useless, how could Georg Luger know. He did not have high speed camcorder to record firing process for analysis in 1900... he could only try and error.

I still believe toggle lock's function on early leaf spring Luger. Cancel it was a mistake, a much stronger coil spring had to be installed to fight this bumping and make practical handling harder.
