Default Luger Rust Blue refinishing tips and solution recipe coming

Collectors:

I have been a member for quite some time now and have spent many hours over the last two years working on tyring to replicating the old world rust blue finish. There have been many older helpful posts here in the forum, but many recipies require chemicals that are hard (and expensive) to obtain. I took a different approach and stared with a commercial rust blue solvent and 'added' to it.

Since I am not going into business due to the labor intensity of the rust process, I am going to post my procedures and recipe here on the forum within a couple of weeks (with pictures). My hope is that we can keep this an open forum and perhaps someone out there can take my recipe and improve on it.

Lastly, the entire refinishing process - working the metal, prepping the metal, applying and carding the finish - are all arts. I have the highest respect for the professional refinishers out there and am posting this information just for the 'want to do it myself' type of person.
