Hi Rick,
Don't worry about stupid questions, my friend - worry about stupid answers. Over the years I've heard many more stupid answers than I've heard stupid questions But to answer your question, "too hot" just means excessive chamber pressure. That can be due to too heavy a propellant charge, a bullet too heavy for a proper propellant charge, a bullet too large for the bore, an incorrect propellant and a host of other things.
