Weird S/42

New to Lugers. Recently bought a S/42 dated 1937. Probably re-blued. S# 53xx. So far so good. However this has a 12" barrel with a ramped front sight. The rear sight is a basic open Luger sight, nothing like the usual carbine or artillery sight. I suspect it was professionally re-barreled at some time, but wonder if it is actually an obscure legitimate model. Can't seem to find anything that matches in my reference books.
