I recently picked up a stainless steel 6" luger marketed by stoeger (and mitchell) 10-15 years ago. it goes through fits of a lot of failures to extract. it does it with new ammo and reloads. 115 grain, 124 grain, standard pressure and near +P pressure. not all the time but when it does it is usually does it several times.
My first guess was to put in a new extractor spring, but the one in there now seems pretty stout. The extractor itself looks pretty decent. (I am a fair armorer but have little experiene with Lugers. I did detail strip and reassembly one with a new main spring a few years back. Wish I had kept that one.) Can anybody offer an inspried notion as to what the problem might be? Anybody know if the old parts fit these guns? (I have heard not.) Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. bob |
