Default American Eagle ? 7.65....advice

I have "inherited" a Luger that has an American Eagle just ahead of the chamber and a symbol with some "gothic" initials on top of the action. It has a grip safety and also a thumb safety? It is in good shape and has matching numbers "30900 Germany" below the barrel. The action knobs, or whatever you call them , are dimpled. The magazine appears to be original. I have looked in several magazines and books, but need to find a better reference to help understand what I have here. Thanks, and Merry Christmas from the Heart of Texas
