The marking found on the 1900 and 1906 American Eagles were in no way an official seal. It was nothing more than a chamber marking applied to make the pistol more appealing for the US market, and was applied at the time of manufacture. These were commercial pistols and had nothing to do with the U.S. government. Even the Test Eagles were taken from commercial production, and the chamber marking had nothing to do with the Test Trials.
