copy of driver's license req'd to sell to dealer?

I recently shipped a handgun via UPS 2nd day air to the high bidder's FFL dealer in OK City. Now that dealer is calling me and wanting a blown up photocopy of my driver's license, supposedly so that he can log it in.
I've never been asked that before and quite honestly he's creeping me out.
Is this common practice, is it required by law, or can I tell him to take a hike?
