Frankenlugers, or Parts Guns vs. Shooters

I have found over the years that the blue book is nothing more than a rule of thumb.
In my geographic area the prices tend to be more than a little off.
When I see a dealer or collector whip out a blue book at any local gun show I put him down as a rank amateur who is too lazy to really do this homework.
No offence to anybody on the list, just my experience.
