Mauser 1937date S/42 code Lugers were not manufactured by Mauser in the "L" block. The reported serial range is 4500p-8xxb. There are tables on this Forum translating the letter suffixes. Below is some information on 1937 dated S/42 code Lugers. I am tracking information on Mauser Lugers and would be interested in any other information you have. Jan *1937- S/42 (4500p-8xxb) The change from strawed small parts to all blue small parts occurs below serial number 1860t and above serial number 1291u. The frame hump was added between 595s and 6902s. Both strawed and blued small parts are found in the range from serial number 6902s and 1860t. All 1937 S/42 code Lugers above serial number 1291u (sn 6835 is an exception) are all blued. The change from polished inside to blued inside and from heat treated to blued pins happens at the same time the finish changes from strawed to all blue. RIGHT RECEIVER ACCEPTANCE STAMPS DE63- DE63 MTP (both sm) (4500p-4032y) DE63- SE63 MTP (both sm) (4147y-9511z) SE63-SE63 MTP (367-8xxb) GRIPS: wood, majority matched (13 of 18 matched) MAGAZINE: Mostly crimped blued with the same acceptance stamps (approximate) as found on right receiver. SIDE PLATE INNER NUMBER: Most side plates bear an inner number. Most of these numbers are a match for the first two digits of the serial number. |
