luger without marks

A friend offered me a Luger in exellent condition but only with the manufacturer's identification (dwn).The pistol doens't present any other marks.
Not even the serial number is visible.
Is it possible that all the marks have been erased ? the pistol doens't show any risks or traces.
Is there any other way of identifying the model ?
The magazine has a wood base
