DWM grips prior to 1914,when the stock lug was added to the standard PO8, do not cover that rear portion of the frame and have finer checkering. WW1 Erfurt & Weimar era Simson grips (made on the same machinery) are thicker than DWM grips. Other than inside markings, the Mauser wood grips are about the same as the post 1913 DWMs (made on the same machinery). TH
