In correspondence with a friend about a 1912 DWM he noted that an example he examined had three right-reciever inspection stamps, in addition to the power-proof. He referenced the 1912 description in Imperial Lugers and a picture of a 1912 with only two, and wondered about the discrepancy.
I looked at my own 1912 DWM, and it indeed has two inspector stamps. It occurred to me that it would be interesting to know where in the serial number series the pattern changed from two stamps to three, and so I am setting about gathering the appropriate information. Poring through the literature and online Forums, and responses to the question, have yielded the following list of 1912 DWM serial number and inspector mark information (list updated 3/19): # 1064 2 marks # 1753 2 # 3295 2 # 4329 2 --------------------------- # 7065 3 marks # 7832 3 # 7885 3 # 9121 3 # 9164 3 If you have a 1912 DWM, please check the inspector stamps (including property-marked and Police conversion). Report them here, or email me dwightg@pacifier.com with the information. I'll post the results as they come in. --Dwight |
