I'll throw some pictures up later tonight, co-worker just dropped off a 1937 S42 for me to clean up for him, just had time for a quick look, 1939 brown holster, take down tool, two magazines, neither matching, straw is easily 90%, has high gloss blued barrel, no pitting anywhere but light coat of surface rust on backstrap, absoultely genuine from WWII Vet to his son who got it last week for me to check out for him. External numbers match. Holster is scuffed and well worn but in overall good shape. Has owner's name and unit written in top of holster, very faint but in the correct writing style. I'll take some before and after pictures when I get it home tonight and clean it up. What's the best brown shoe polish for a holster like that?
