Default 1900AE Addition

Hi Folks,

A couple weeks ago I said I would post this if I picked it up. 1900AE No.9795 is not a high dollar example, but it fit my budget. Most of the wear is on the grip straps and the right grip, but the bore is excellent and overall, it appears to have been well cared for, inside and out, while it got some use. Not bad for over 100 years old.

From the other examples I have seen posted, it shares characteristics of those in itâ??s serial range. Though some are BUG proofed, this one is not. The mag appears to be original, judging from the brushed finish.

The craftsmanship and the 100 plus years of history of this pistol were the most compelling reasons for acquiring it. I find it amazing that, for several years, the US and Switzerland were the primary markets of the 1900. From a military service point of view, I can understand the changes made to the 1906 and then to the final version for service, but this is the one (for me - and my budget!) that represents the heritage of the Luger.

I like this pic because it demonstrates the craftsmanship. There are no milling marks in the upper left area of the reciever. Also, the insert for the toggle lock is a beautiful fit. The production of that small piece and the cut to insert it most have involved quiet a few set-ups for the machinist. Note that the keyway is not a dovetail, but is rounded. ( you have to look close to see what I'm talking about).
