Got my very first P08 a few hours ago.
I´m a confessed ignorant more than a beginner so I´m here to learn. My gun has the number 1508 in the frame, most other parts i´ve seen so far also have 08 stamped on them. There's some sort of "e" below and not far from the frame number. A large piece of the upper has the dates 1913 /1920 and the DMW markings with SN# 282 as the other serial number that tells me it's a frankenstein and not one gun. The proof marks on the right side look pretty much like the set marked 16 here in the info pages but the letters i see look to me like a crowned B, a crowned G and another crowned B then the large winged eagle. This is all i´ve got. Maybe there's more, where should i look? The gun is in crappy condition but with love patience, dedication and money not worth mentioning since i got none left, i plan to rebuild, reblue and hopefully one day finally be able to make it a shooter once again. You can imagine there were once grooves in the rifling of the 4' barrel. Doctor, is it bad? Have never even handled another Luger before so i don't know what to look or expect. I'll need to find new grips, grip screws and a #36 part (broken) before i can take this baby out. I only pays $ 250 so i believe it's still a bargain, a no thrills P08 in slightly better condition starts her around $ 500. I'm listening. Thanks folks. 0-0 |
