That was something I figured as soon as I saw the export stamp. The fact it was a commercial issue didn't bother me, in fact that script S in the frame could also mean that it was issued to a staff officer IIRC, but the export stamp tells me that it was shipped out in the 20's for private sale abroad. The closest thing I could think of is that a German family bought it in the states and then emigrated back to Hitler's Reich and became an officer and kept the pistol, but that seems incredibly far fetched. Either way, $1500 for the Luger and the holster together is more than enough of a bargain for me, regardless of backstory.
