Jerry Burney here in the states will fix this - finding the right person to repair has to be a careful person, they can't just be a shoe repair and zap it.
Jerry will repair it with proper flaxen thread and uses thread right into the proper holes without screwing it up. Leaving it as proper history is fine and acceptable for most things, but for something like this, I vote fix it, but fix it right. Ed
