Mag serial number

Hi guys,

I have the opportunity to pick up an all matching 1940, code 42 luger, each individual serial number on the mag appears to have been stamped at at an angle. Anyone seen numbers like this before, or could it be a sloppy attempt to force match a mag to a gun.
The pic is the only one I have from the seller.
