Sear spring and safety lever

The sear spring may be weak, but it would not be as a result of you trying to c-o-c-k the toggle with the safety on. It could just be age, or it may have been bent slightly by a previous owner in an atempt to lighten the trigger pull.

Feeding issues also had nothing to do with your actions. They are usually the result of a poor magazine match to your pistol. If you continue to have misfeeds, change your magazine.

Make sure the disconnector (the small spring loaded pin at the end of the sear bar) is clean, has plenty of freedom of movement, and is well lubricated. You shouldn't have any problems with it in the near future.

The old sear spring can be bent slightly to increase it's force while in use, but since you have replaced it, just save it in a spares box for the future...
