My father in law recently gave me a 1939 Luger in near perfect condition with original finish. I took it to a local dealer who did not know much about them other than it was in excellent condition. I assume that is a military version because of the German Eagle stamped on it in a few places. All of the numbers match including the mag. The holster has a persons name stamped on to it also with the German Eagle stamp. How could I go about finding what happened to this individual POW, KIA or survived to the end or even still surviving?
I do know that: - it is a 1939 - all matching numbers inside and out - also matching number mag -excellent condition very slight holster wear on the barrel near muzzle What I would like to know is: - general value - what type of possible history it may have - is it a collectible piece - is it exclusively a WWII piece |
