Hi All,
I looked thru the books I have ,and did not see any mention of what was standard issue. I just bought a nice 1917 DWM and it came with one matching mag.(nickel) I bought a blue steel/wood bottom one as the nickel ones they had were damaged & in bad shape. Would it be correct for my pistol? I want to make a fine adjust sight tool. can anyone post a picture and all dimensions if you have achance. Thanks, broom- the man with 1000? on Lugers

Early Erfurt had a brushed finish until 1913, when a nickle alloy plating with a slight golden tone was introduced. ...</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">

Thanks Edward
What do you use to whiten the proofmarks? I have used chalk but it does not last, & I think it will scratch the pistol. Thanks for you help, broom

You can do a search on this subject, but here is some basic info;
The best thing to use is something that is NOT abrasive, you can use a "white" stick, you can get one from Brownells, I bought a white one, gold and a silver one. Some people use white out, or a white grease pencil. Ed
