Default Plum Import marked

Did any of the recent dipped blued Lugers come out Plum.

I have a 1940 /42 shooter and the barrel is blue but the reciever/toggle is plum red? Just wonder if this is a redip or original, must be redip becasue the finish is 100%. Don't know if I am going to reblue again or leave it.

Ted,

Over the years, I have seen many '38, '39. and early 1940 Lugers that had the plum-cast to the forward area of the barreled receiver; sometimes including all of the receiver. I have never seen one, where I knew Mauser did the work, that had a plum-colored toggle-train. Only exception being an occassional plum extractor on an other-wise all blue pistol. This is certainly not to say there is not an original one out there with a plum train; just doubtful in my experience. Perhaps, this is one that was re-finished over here, and the bath was allowed to get too hot. If a re-blue; should be easy to spot. Blue plunger on the sear bar, blue trigger lever in the sideplate, blue recoil spring........the usual things the guys don't take apart.

Default Better send me that Nikon then and I make good use of it.

While you at it send me the shooter. IF you can't take pictures I don't want you messing with loaded guns either Ted!
