Love these "story book" Lugers, and this one is a dandy. Great acquisition, you have a winner.

John and Ron the Learned, Thanks, I'm happy with it. It would be so great to know where it's been, and what it's been through. The holster is going off to Jerry for a bit of first aid. Nothing drastic, all in all it's in pretty good condition.
Ron

Are you saying you found a holster that matches one of the unit markings on your Luger, and if so, which one? Could you show a pic of the unit mark on the holster?

Saxman, The pistol is marked to the 98th Inf Reg.
and the holster is marked AJR98 which translates to Artillery Inf. Regiment 98. Or the 98th Inf. Regiment, Artillery. The Artillery unit assigned to the 98th Inf. The pistol and holster were both issued to the 98th Infantry Regiment. I won't call them matched, but they are mated. The holster is a 1915. If it were a 1911, then I would call it matched. Ron
