Talking My late Grandpa's Luger ?

Hey all, my name is Joey, I have recently inherited my grandpaâ??s 9mm Luger. I do know things about guns; my dad and I collect guns. Well I wanted to describe to all what this luger is like. It is a luger that has 1918stamped on the barrel, and it has matching serial numbers. There are no markings except the DWM on the top of the cocking mechanism. The magazine is original; it looks to be some kind of metal, with a wooden hand knob on the bottom. It has an eagle with a crown on its head; there are two eagle markings that I can see on this pistol. Then there is gothic writing with crowns on top of each letter. Now I have looked on this site, and I can by the most part decode what these markings mean. But the puzzling part of this gun is that it has Ivory handgrips. The handgrips are engraved with an Eagle swooping down. I have taken it apart and the handgrips say 1917 on the inside of them. The holster it came with is dark brown, and has a stamp of 1914 on it, and comes with a pouch to carry a magazine. It also has a smaller flap, which when opened reveals a cleaning rope and swab. Now I canâ??t be sure, but through oral history from my Grandpa, this was a gun that was taken by his father in WWI. His dad took it from a German officer who â??didnâ??t need it anymoreâ?. His dad said this wasn't a German army regular, and that â??he was heavily protectedâ? by other men. Assuming he was conveying bodyguards. Well if anybody has any clue about this gun, it would be of big help to know the details of the gun, and how much it is worth. My grandpa would always brag it was worth Three Hundred dollars! <img border="0" alt="[byebye]" title="" src="graemlins/wave.gif" /> Thank you,
Joey David

Joey, If your Luftwaffe Ivory grips are real Ivory, and if WW2 era, they alone are probably worth more than $300. I think that the Forum membership will need more details about your PO8 to proper evaluate it. Please check out the Info sheet available in the frequently asked questions section on the left boarder. We are very interested in seeing good clear photographs of your Luger...

If you don't have digital camera, then you can use a scanner for this purpose. If you have any questions on how to post the images after you have them, there is a tutorial on posting photographs by Ed Tinker in the Site Help & Feedback forum. Drop me a Private message if you need addtional help.
