Eric,

Here are pics of the quick and dirty rubber covered finger I whipped up for my shooting belt. It helps when the process shown in this clip is done from the hip. Bump fire! You, too, can fire a Thompson at the rate of about $400 per minute!

Eric, that's what bump firing is all about---turning a semi-auto into a fun-gun without illegal modifications or a Class III hassle. It still fires only one round with each pull of the trigger. The Thompson in your pic has the butt stock removed, and the original short barrel, so they can be made a little lighter...

Mine is also a semi, and this technique will work with any semi-auto--rifle, shotgun, or pistol, although some are probably more suited than others. I've seen lots of guys on YouTube doing it with a 1911. (Look fast! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kyrxn5oE6Do) Special stocks that aid in the practice are avaliable for the AR15 and AK47. Our NY S.A.F.E. Act compliant mags are permanently modified to hold only ten rounds. Not much, but it will give you a taste!

My son took us to a Range near Columbus last year, where we bought 30 rounds each and tried out an M1A1 military Thompson rent-a-gun in original configuration. Everybody got to have a "blast" and sample a bit of history!
