War bringbacK? (newbie) Info please!

Hi guys,

Just ran across this deal, and was guessing it was worth $2k+, which was awesome because the guy insisted on taking not more than $1100 for it (he owed me a favor or two going way back...). Pretty sure I made out ok because the weapon is in pretty nice shape. I'm thinking the weapon itself is a fairly common one, but I was hoping some of you experts could tell me a little about the origin, and whether the holster, etc, is likely original to it. It's got a (I think) military Nazi holster, takedown tool, and two matching magazines. Also, it's not for sale, but approximate value?

but if you want many of us to see your pictures you need to re-size and post on the server here.
Some of us can't, won't, don't- go to see outside hosted pictures; and they will eventually disappear and render any info on the thread without meaning.

Your 1941-42 Luger was produced only in early 1941 so it is a harder to find variation. The two matching magazines are super rare. The holster date is way earlier than the gun so not likely original but it could have been matched up during the war.
You got a great deal as the Luger is worth at least three times what you paid.

yes, a 1942 might be more accurate', but the reality is that this would go with a luger like this fine.

War started May 1939 - so holster was made before the gun was 1940

PS: It is the two matching mags and condition - a same year model with two non-matching mags (common) and 10% worse condition would be worth $1500-$1600 -

You should take a look at this site's FAQ PDF document.

A Luger in this condition, two matching magazines and complete rig is very rare and quite valuable. I agree with the $3000+ value estimate.

Please don't consider shooting it. Breaking a numbered part would considerably drop it's value.

As mentioned, don't store it in the holster. You could damage the finish.

By the way: yes, it was made by Mauser for the Wehrmacht.
