I do believe I know the "real" answer!

Everyone is looking for them and if one shows up it is gone;
no one who has one wants to sell for $600!

If you hadn't gone there the next morning it would have disappeared for sure! Very good price... Sometimes we have to tell ourselves, "Just DO it!" Good job

I don't want to jinx myself but I've seen Shooters go on Gunbroker for as little as $650.00 (I've never been lucky enough to grab one like that) I missed the boat on all the VOPOs that were imported and sold cheaply a few years ago. I have more than one hobby and occasionally drop out of Luger mode (and firearms in general) periodically. As is always the case for me I consistently and downright infuriatingly miss all the good stuff during my absence. I wish I could monitor all of them concurrently.
At the same time though I'd be doing a lot of crying regardless as I don't have the funds to collect all at the same time.

In the long run... at the end of the day... it doesn't matter so much- if you're happy with what you have paid, and you're made an informed decision- its fine.
I have that with my 1917 DWM all matching- I didn't get a GREAT deal on it, others have paid a fair bit less, but I like the gun, and you will like yours when you find " that right one" .... enjoy your new acqusition... and don't look back . Besides, would you really want to buy that great shooter for "only $400!" realizing it was worth 50% more? Mmmmmm.. part of me would feel guilty.
My 2 cents worth )

Only if you buy it from a little old widow who didn't know what she had! JMHO.

I think I paid a little too much perhaps.... but... Ah well. At least someone else has not been cheated. I have a collector friend who has paid too much (by his own admissies) and who has also gotten some good deals- both happen sooner or later....
