They are quite collectible...but they are also one of the most frequently faked variations. I wouldn't buy one if someone gave me the money.

Eric, Ron was referring to the DWM-produced Lugers as being the ones frequently faked. The Wiki link talks about the American made model, which was .22lr only. I think Terry Tiel posted with pics of a lady friend shooting his a while back. He apparently has one that works OK, but other examples can be as problematical as Erma's Luger wannabe from the same time period. For these, nobody bothers with faking. There's no "lesser" pig available upon which to apply lipstick; and a brand, spankin' new one in the box would likely only fetch about $350-400, absolute max!

Eric, here's a link to a GunsAmerica listing for one of the Stoeger .22 Lugers, for your inspection. According to the description, it has raised letters for safe and fire--opposed to red and green painted holes, and this, along with the wear evident on the right, rear and upper corners of the toggle ears--which reveals the material beneath, this is one of the early cast aluminum alloy models. http://www.gunsamerica.com//93475390...SERIA.htm?wl=1

Eric, here's a less expensive example on Gunbroker http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=428540720 This one seems to be the steel frame type, due to the red/green painted "safe" and "fire". Dots way less than the other listing, so far.

My other investments at the time including two ex-wive are long gone and for that or despite that, I feel honored, blessed and very lucky! My .22 Stoeger Luger seems to be of the steel type, as magnets stick to it, but does not have the green/red dots.
Serial is 4xxx, not sure what year that might place it at...




Thoroughly enjoy reading these forums while searching for more info about these interesting little gems!

It looks like mine that I came into today (so I'm reading up as much as possible). Is the magnet sticking to the receiver; or just the barrel and action? It looks like my aluminum framed one.

Everything I've seen has stated the raised S & F is the 1969-1979 era, and is coupled with the aluminum receiver;

(Note, I know nothing, I started researching today when I ended up with one in a trade)
