Adding a Luger to my collection

Good afternoon!
I've always wanted to add a Luger to my collection. I'm a bit of a sucker for Swiss\German firearms but have never in the past been able to pony up the cash for a nice Luger. I'm particularly interested in the World War II era. However, with so many choices\options i'm really stumped on where to begin. I've found a '38 S/42 on Simpsons that is calling to me. I was distracted when I typed my original post and forgot to finish it before clicking submit. The smell of bread burning downstairs will do that.

I don't plan to actively shoot it, however, I would like to be able to take it to the range and fire off a magazine or two just for fun. Because of this, I was leaning more towards the one that had the replaced firing pin.
Swiss Lugers are great but aren't they all in 30?

EDIT: I ended up finding this gorgeous 1939 42:http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...ducts_id=26595 Chances are high I will order tomorrow when they open.

You may be correct about the Swiss being in .30, but if you are shoting it as rarely as you say, who cares? I just thought the Swiss thng would appeal.
The gun at Simpsons is a beaut.

I've eyeballed the Swiss DWM contract guns and they are gorgeous. I do see your point. I'll have to make sure to add one soon.

Hi Jack, first of all welcome to this forum of LUGER enthusiasts where you'll find all the good information you need.

As you can see there is a wide choice of Lugers, starting from their caliber and age.
Maybe if you'd like to take it to the range the best choice would be a good shooter in 9mm and not too old, like for example a WWII P.08
