Default Possible "Member Number"???

...Mine is #6696...

We've been mulling over how to identify the 10,000th member...Well, it's not hard at all!

For instance...John D, site owner, is member #2...

(See pic below)

OK, to find your member number...Open a thread with your post in it (or go to your profile)...Hover your mouse pointer over your name...and read the "/member.php?u=xxxx" in your browsers taskbar...

Nothing to it!!!

Lessee...Ed Tinker is #8; Vlim is #597; cirelaw is #1794; Thor is #3...

Here's some fun: Just plug a number into the User Profile URL to see who that member number is...

Let's try http://forum.lugerforum.com/member.php?u=4 and it's...Ron Wood!!!

Woohoo!!!

So...To find our 10,000th member...Just wait until we hit 10,000 or over...And click their name, go to their profile, and do a mouseover!

so, if I watch close enough (which I have no desire to do), I could then become the 10,000 member

I don't think so...You have to register to view the threads/profiles first...

OK...What's wrong with this???

I was looking at JasonXP...Who is our newest member, and the Member Counter says "Members: 9,997"...But he's #10728...

Where'd those other 728 members go???

Not sure if banned members count, and that would be folks who are spammers

I plugged in about 30 - 40 random member numbers last night, and they all came up with member names, stats, etc. Quite a few had 0 posts, but all seemed good...

I guess spammers do count...At least initially...

So this isn't an accurate method of counting members...Real members, anyway...

FWIW a bunch of us guys from the old forum got shuffled around when we had to re register.
I don't see any significance in roster numbers or post counts.

Roger that. I mentioned in another thread that I was a member of another forum for 1 or 2 years, had 1000+ posts, and my ISP changed to all-commercial, and I had to get another ISP and re-register at that forum. I couldn't use my previous username, so I had to choose a new one, and started all over again from 0.

I imagine there are quite a few similar instances here, especially when members changed from dial-up to broadband, with different confirmation email addresses.

well, not really

if they notified an admin, we can 'merge' their two profiles into one or we can simply change their email address, which they can do too...
