Default Tired Ole Thing Part II

A few days ago, Ted Green (aka Thor) posted some pictures of a very tired looking luger that had been sent to him for restoration. That luger was mine. I received it yesterday and wanted to give my impressions of the work.

First let me state that the photos do not do justice to the transformation performed on this gun. As I hold it in my hand, it is hard to believe it is the same luger I sent to him a few short weeks ago.

The luger was a shooter...a mismatched shooter, russian rework that I had purchased as a birthday gift for my son. I wasn't looking for a collector, just a shooter. The luger was fine as it was...rough looking, but it was a shooter. Since I was giving it to my son, however, I wanted to dress it up as much as possible. Ted did just that.

Ted took a "sows ear" and turned it into a "silk purse." The gun is absolutely beautiful...all the pits, gouges, scratches are gone. The finish and strawing are gorgeous. Yes, it is still only a shooter, but it's a mighty purty shooter now!!!!

I have to commend Ted and his work. He was very patient with me, answering all my questions, always responding very quickly and doing a followup to make sure I was happy with the work.

As I told Ted, my only problem with what he did is that he made it look so good, that now I need to go out and buy one for myself for him to rework for me....I'll be in the doghouse with the wife...but at least I'll have a purty gun!!!

I highly recommend Ted's work....it's beyond craft and more like art. If you got a luger lying about that you keep off display because of it's looks...send it to Ted...he'll make it right!!!

.............Keith

Ted has refinished three shooters for me, a 4inch, a 6inch, and an arty. They all look factory fresh. Only problem is: now they are almost too good-looking to shoot.

We are fortunate to have a craftsman like Ted in the group.

Thor, do you rework tired old worn out people? I could definitely use a little help.
