Here is the B-17. The three good looking guys are Hugh Clark, Bill Stanley, and Bob Pultz. The two cute girls are Brenda Stanley and Minta Clark. In case some of you younger fellows don't recognise her, the gal on the plane is Betty Grable.

Read somewhere that an airman in the 8th AF had a greater chance of getting killed than a Marine in the Pacific. Something like a 70% chance of being a casualty. I've got an uncle who turned 17 on Guadacanal, went from there all the way to China. He said the worst was Okinawa because it lasted the longest. I kind of feel about air combat like sea combat, gravity is a problem, If you can't fly or swim for a long time you are a goner.

Thanks for the photos of these beautiful airplanes. I have actually seen this particular B-17 first hand and it is just as pretty in real life as it is in the pictures. Thanks for bringing back some neat memories.

Here is a picture of the Heinkel that was taxiing out and took off while I was there.

Are you sure that isn't a still from a Harrison Ford movie? That's a great picture.
