A little bit of new information, guys.

I had not paid much attention to my magazine until now...

It has a "circle KK/4", a "circle 19", and a "backwards R" on the spine. Aluminum base, serial # 7939.

Just to reiterate, this magazine came with the 1916 DWM P.08 with non-matching serial numbers, and a "circle KK/10" barrel that is described in the OP.

A few more questions...

If this P.08 is an Austrian Bundesheer rework what years would it have been in service? What wars could it have potentially been involved in?

Would a 1916 P.08 of this make and serial number range have been issued during WWI?

lamarborg,
The 1916 dated luger was a WWI military wepon and probably used in WWII also! The KK markings are post WWII and probably pressed into Police or Military use.

Wouldn't a WWII issued Luger (even if it was made in WWI) have Nazi Waffenamts?

I was under the impression that Imperial and Wiemar era Lugers were re-proofed during the National Socialist period. That may be incorrect, though.

I would say the evidence points the other way right now and that Austrian may be the source, even though a Luger magazine so marked might very well be perfectly OK in a Portuguese Luger.

Thanks for posting

Hi Vern,

I can only rely on what the experts have to say, but I've been perplexed by there being two groups of experts with different opinions. So I'm just trying to make each group aware of the other in the hopes it will generate a discussion that will bring out the pros and cons of each theory.

Best regards,
DJ

Hi,

I can't answer your questions, but maybe this thread will point you in the right direction: http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=24894
