Default Toggle Hold Open, '29 DWM Police

Hello,

The toggle of my BKIW-Mauser transitional DWM Luger w/"t" suffix and matching # magazine (Still's Weimar Lugers p.31-34), exhibits the annoying tendency of not remaining open when the toggle is pulled back on an empty magazine.

Neither the substution of magazines nor manually applying slight pressure on the base of the mag, holding it up in the magazine well helps. The magazines that I've tried are the pistol's issue mag, 2 E. German mags, and byf 41 mag. The results are the same for all.

The P-08, which is Landjagerie marked (L.Ka.229.), is in overall exc+ original condition and shows evidence of very little use and much care.

With the slide unit removed from the frame and the hold open latch exposed, the latch appears not to move freely back into battery once depressed. I've removed the latch and examined bot it and its integral flat hold open spring and both appear to be in fine condition.

The "rub" appears to be on the front of the rear part of the hold open latch where it appears to rub against the frame.

I am considering carefully polishing or stoning that surface.

Any concerns that you Luger experts would have?

Thanks

The next step is to remove the right hand grip panel, and repeat the tests.....you will be able to see the interaction between the follower button and the hold open spur....the spur is probably going between the mag. follower button and the mag. shell.....hope this helps! till...later....G.T.

take a look at the underside of the breechblock and note the wear in the notch that the hold open engages. if heavily worn, fussing with the other parts probably won't help.
