Exclamation Mexican President Calls For Reinstatement Of Failed Gun Ban

Mexican President Calls For Reinstatement Of Failed Gun Ban

Friday, May 21, 2010

On Thursday, Felipe Calderon, the president of Mexico, where prohibitive gun laws prevent good people from having firearms for protection against criminals and governments of dubious legitimacy (historically the norm in Mexico), encouraged Congress to reinstate the federal "assault weapon" ban. With a warning seemingly designed to appeal to those who believe that speaking out against the Obama Administration's policies are one step short of sedition or worse, Calderon said, "[I]f you do not regulate the sale of these weapons in the right way, nothing guarantees that criminals here in the United States with access to the same power of weapons will not decide to challenge American authorities and civilians."

Calderon also misinformed Congress, claiming that violence in Mexico rose significantly after the U.S. ban expired in 2004. In fact, Mexico's murder rate has been stable since 2003 and remains well below rates recorded previously. However, he did not explain why violent crime has declined significantly in the U.S. since the ban expired, or how a ban on flash suppressors and bayonet mounts relates to drug thugs in Mexico or anywhere else.

Notwithstanding the Washington Post's judgment that Calderon "made a powerful case," we suspect his speech fell on mostly deaf ears in Congress and in Arizona, which he inappropriately criticized for having an illegal immigration enforcement law that is similar to Mexico's. But it had some effect, however. New York Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy issued a statement incorrectly claiming that she has repeatedly introduced legislation to "reinstate" the ban. She has repeatedly introduced legislation, of course, but not to reinstate the ban. Rather, her bills have proposed to apply the "assault weapon" label to far more firearms than were covered by the expired ban, including the M1 Garand service rifle, the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22, and any semi-automatic shotgun or rifle a future attorney general might claim is not "sporting."

Ron, A sad era for politics in America. Mexican drug lords are NOT getting fully automatic rifles, grenades and rocket launchers from Americans. They come by boat from a number of countries that have full access to the thousands of miles of unpatroled shorline that is Mexico. Politicians, both Mexican and American are lying cheating scum that have an agenda that is about only one thing. Their hold on power.

"Man thirsts more for glory than for virtue" Armor of an enemy, his broken helmet, his flag ripped from a conquered trireme were treasures valued beyond all human riches. It is to obtain these tokens of glory that Generals, be they Roman, Greek or barbarian, brave a thousand perils and endure a thousand exertions.

Juvenal (Tenth Satire) Rome b AD 55-60

Come November we must decend on them like the proverbial plague and vote out all incumbants. The main enemy and tyrant of the American people who only serve themselves are the politicians in Washington D.C.

Maybe if we didn't have a border that leaks like a seave they wouldn't have a gun problem and we wouldn't have an alien problem. But then if he pushed for secure borders there wouldn't be all those dollors flowing back into his country.

Some folks just don't know when they have a good deal to keep their mouths shut.

He doesn't want secure borders! His country would collapse without the dollars being sent south...

When I saw this photo, the first impression was not it being a preban configuration M4. "Hmmm.... this taste is close to that captured AK47 from Iraq."

Captured M4s displayed by Mexican government.

And not to mention his bank account would collapse without the bribes and kickbacks from the drug cartels.

One of the Postmaster's I worked for was Wes Frederickson. Some of you might know of him from Ann Rule's "Small Sacrifices". The book about his daughter Diane Downes shooting her children. Wes was a great guy. Too bad his daughter was a Sociopathic Soup Sandwich.

BTW, if you've read the book? It's so inaccurate and in some cases, and completely false in others concerning Wes it would be funny, if not so sad. I know, I was there.

Wes told me that when he was acting Postmaster at San Bruno, CA. He, his wife and friends had a vacation planned in Mexico City. He got delayed by business, so she flew down ahead of him. She called him after arriving, and asked him to send her a leather jacket that she had forgotten. The jacket was one he had custom made for her as a gift.

When he got to Mexico City, she hadn't received the jacket. They went to the Mexico City post office to inquire about it. As they entered the building they passed a Mexican woman coming out wearing the jacket. Wes stopped her and asked where she had gotten it. She become incensed, and told him that it was a gift from her husband, the Mexico City Postmaster.

He said that they just let it go, all things considered. And he bought his wife a new jacket.
