Default A Borchardt with shoulder stock on RIA

Two commericals:

(1) Borchardt with shoulder stock

(2) Another interesting one is the "BY HIS COMRADES IN THE BANK OF ENGLAND"

[Edit]

Wait a minute. Forgot this one earlier.

Very rare and very sporty Field Marshall Edition, probably only 100 were created this way

Postie, do you look at anything if you don't plan to bid? Watching is free, why not? Even local gun show charges $10 at door, RIA pictures are absolutely free.

But I will bid $2000 on that Bank of England. In case no one wants it, I can have it for 2k (2k + 15% = 2300). This thing was selling for CND $2500 in Canada with matching should stock a month ago. So $2000 is fair w/o matching stock, considering that special text on magazine well.

I sometimes looked at Penthouse centerfold; but it breaks my heart that I could never have one, so I stopped looking...

I could bid $600 on the Borchardt...

OK, I'll see your bid...on the Borchardt...I registered at RIA, gave my CC info, and placed a sealed bid on the Borchardt...

I'll never win it...but you can't win if you don't play...

Postie, retired or near retirement? (assumption from your previous posts)..... still interested in Penthouse?

What I desperately need is a prewar Bolo with matching stock. I have searched for years and could not find an appropriate one. Of course, "appropriate" is by my judgement and is very subjective.

On that Bank of England Broom, is it proper for the lines to be present for the lettering? That seems kind of amateurish to me. I don't recall ever seeing that before.

Hi, Steve, I would think it's supposed to be amateurish. If I were one of Desmond Deane's comrades and bought this gun for him, the most likely place to add those text would be a jewelry store, assume I could not do it myself and regular gunsmith did not accept this type of work. Since it's one time effort and one time charge, the easiest way for the engraver to align the text is drawing a few lines first.

On the other hand, if I were a modern fake maker, I would apply wax on the surface, use acid to create the text, and beautify the result a little bit. Much easier that way, and much cleaner.

For recording purpose, I post RIA pix here:

I would love to have this Broomhandle in my collection!
With some luck it would be possible to trace the original owner's career file.
Good luck with your bid Alvin!

My bad feeling is that this one probably will go high and 2k won't work. We, buyers, should setup an association, coordinate the action, bid in turn to prevent competing with each other and pumping the price up too high. In the long term, we will have what we want, cheaper.

But, even that's possible, there is probably a "reserve".

[Edit] Never mind, won't work. I forgot the key point: buyers are also sellers.

I have not put down a number yet. The number in my mind is not competitive, highly unlikely I can reach the reserve. Most important, I have LRH. Probably will save my $$ for a prewar Bolo with matching stock. So I will skip this one.
